The government selected Germany's ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems (TKMS) to supply up to 12 new Type 212CD conventional submarines.
這項名為「加拿大巡邏潛艦計畫」（Canadian Patrol Submarine Project，簡稱CPSP）的方案，旨在以現代化、尖端技術取代老舊的維多利亞級二手艦隊。
