2026年8月29日、アイスランドは欧州連合への加盟交渉を再開するか否かを決定するため、国民投票を実施する。
On 29 August 2026, Iceland will hold a national referendum to decide whether to resume negotiations for European Union membership.
この投票は、親EU派の社会民主同盟が率いる連立政権が誕生した2024年の議会選挙を受けて行われるもので、10年以上も停滞していた議論に再び火がつくこととなった。
This vote follows the 2024 parliamentary elections, where a coalition led by the pro-EU Social Democratic Alliance took power, reigniting a debate that had been dormant for over a decade.
アイスランドはかつて、深刻な金融危機の直後の2009年に加盟を申請したが、国家主権、特に重要な漁業への懸念から、2015年までに交渉が停止されていた。
Iceland previously applied for membership in 2009 during the aftermath of a severe financial crisis, but the process was halted by 2015 due to domestic concerns regarding national sovereignty, particularly over the vital fishing industry.
