U.S. and China postpone presidential summit until May
On March 26, 2026, the White House announced that the highly anticipated summit between U.S.
President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping has been rescheduled.
Originally planned for late March, the meeting will now take place on May 14β15, 2026, in Beijing.
President Trump requested the delay to stay in Washington to manage military operations related to the conflict involving the U.S., Israel, and Iran.
The summit will address vital topics, including bilateral trade, specifically focusing on agricultural exports like soybeans and beef, as well as biotechnology and critical minerals.
This meeting is seen as a key step in stabilizing the trade truce established in October 2025.
Furthermore, the administration plans for a reciprocal visit later in 2026, where President Trump will host President Xi in Washington, D.C.
