India's Bio-Economy Forecasted to Hit $1 Trillion by 2047
India is on a fast track to becoming a global leader in biotechnology, aiming to grow its bio-economy to a massive $1 trillion by 2047.
This vision, tied to the Viksit Bharat 2047 goal, follows a decade of explosive growth where the sector expanded from $10 billion in 2014 to over $165 billion today.
A key engine for this transformation is the BioE3 Policy, which focuses on biomanufacturing to boost the economy, environment, and employment.
The startup ecosystem has also thrived, exploding from just 50 companies a decade ago to over 11,000 today.
Supported by major government initiatives like the Anusandhan National Research Foundation and a network of 95+ bio-incubators, India is bridging the gap between innovation and scale.
By leveraging advanced research and green energy solutions like ethanol blending, India is positioning itself as a hub for sustainable and high-tech industrial growth.
