On June 1, 2026, the anime series Apocalypse Hotel and its companion manga, APOCALYPSE HOTEL PUSUPUSU, made history by winning top honors at the 57th Seiun Awards.
As Japan’s most prestigious science fiction accolade, the Seiun Award is determined annually by fan voting at the Japan Science Fiction Convention.
The anime, produced by CygamesPictures and directed by Kana Shundo, took home the Best Media prize, while the manga adaptation, illustrated by Izumi Takemoto, secured the Best Comic category.
Set in 2057, the story explores a post-apocalyptic world where humanity has fled an unbreathable atmosphere.
The narrative follows Yachiyo, a gynoid concierge at the Gingarou Hotel in Tokyo, who faithfully serves mechanical staff while awaiting the return of human guests.
Praised for its unique blend of absurdist humor and emotional depth, the series stands out as an original work that captivated audiences and critics alike.
This double victory highlights the power of effective cross-media storytelling.
