Philippines Secures Oil Supply Through June 2026
The Philippines has taken proactive measures to ensure its energy security amid global uncertainty.
On March 27, 2026, President Ferdinand R.
Marcos Jr. confirmed that the country has secured sufficient crude oil supplies to meet domestic demand through June 30, 2026.
Geopolitical tensions, particularly in the Middle East, have threatened vital shipping routes, prompting the government to diversify its energy sources.
Beyond traditional partners, the Philippines is now exploring procurement options from nations like Japan, South Korea, and Russia.
To support these efforts, the Department of Budget and Management released 20 billion pesos from the Malampaya Gas Fund for the Emergency Energy Security Program.
Additionally, the Philippine National Oil Company is focusing on importing crude oil for domestic refining, which officials find more cost-effective than purchasing finished fuel products.
