As of April 6, 2026, the South Pacific is witnessing intense weather, with two tropical cyclones, Maila and Vaianu, causing significant disruption.

Tropical Cyclone Maila, currently a Category 3 storm, is located between Papua New Guinea and the Solomon Islands.
現在、カテゴリー3の勢力にある熱帯低気圧マイラは、パプアニューギニアとソロモン諸島の間に位置しています。
The system has already triggered heavy flooding in Papua New Guinea, causing flight suspensions at Tokua Airport, while coastal damage has been reported in the Solomon Islands.
このシステムはすでにパプアニューギニアで大雨による洪水引き起こし、トクア空港での欠航を招いたほか、ソロモン諸島でも沿岸部に被害が報告されています。
Meanwhile, Tropical Cyclone Vaianu has developed near Fiji.

Though currently a Category 1 storm, it is bringing widespread rain and creating a risk of flash flooding across the islands.
