Every year on June 8th, the world observes World Brain Tumor Day.
Launched in 2000 by the German Brain Tumor Association, this day aims to raise global awareness, advocate for better care, and support those affected by brain tumors.
While brain tumors account for roughly 3% of all cancer diagnoses, their impact on a person's cognitive and physical health is profound.
A brain tumor is an abnormal cell growth inside the rigid skull, which can cause life-threatening pressure even if the growth is benign.
Recognizing symptoms—such as persistent morning headaches, memory loss, or vision changes—is crucial for early detection.
On this day, we are encouraged to wear grey, share information using #WorldBrainTumorDay, and support research into innovative treatments like immunotherapy.
Beyond just awareness, the goal is to drive long-term policy change and ensure that every patient, regardless of their location, has access to the life-saving care they deserve.
