New research initiative launched between Australia and Vietnam

In a major boost for regional scientific progress, Australia and Vietnam launched the Australia–Vietnam Science, Technology and Innovation Cooperation Initiative (AVSTICI) in June 2026.

This initiative is designed to move beyond traditional development aid by fostering deep, sustainable partnerships between universities, research institutes, and industry leaders from both countries.

With an A$1.3 million funding pool provided by the Australian government, AVSTICI offers grants between A$100,000 and A$300,000 for collaborative projects lasting two to three years.

The initiative prioritizes three critical areas: renewable technologies, the sustainable blue economy, and waste management.
