On July 24, 2026, the International Criminal Court (ICC) reached a historic milestone by voting to remove Chief Prosecutor Karim Khan.

In a secret ballot at the UN headquarters, 82 of the 125 member states voted for his dismissal following investigations into allegations of serious sexual misconduct.

Khan, who had been on leave since May 2025, was accused of having an inappropriate relationship with a junior lawyer and attempting to suppress her claims.
