The gaming world is buzzing following the release of the 'Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look' trailer on Netflix in late August 2026.
This 27-minute preview reached over 53 million views across platforms in just one week, triggering a surprising surge in console sales.
In the UK, data from NielsenIQ shows that sales for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S jumped by roughly 33% and 34%, respectively, despite a cooling hardware market that had previously seen a 14.4% year-on-year decline.
Retailers across the UK even reported stock shortages as fans rushed to secure hardware for the game’s November 19 launch.
This trend is particularly impressive given that rising production costs have made consoles more expensive than in previous years.
By utilizing Netflix for its promotional debut, Rockstar Games reached a massive, non-traditional audience, proving that the demand for the next chapter in this legendary franchise is strong enough to revitalize the hardware market ahead of its release.
