On July 24, 2026, the European Commission announced preliminary findings accusing TikTok of violating the European Union’s Digital Services Act (DSA).

The investigation focuses on the protection of minors' privacy, alleging that the platform failed to implement adequate safeguards.

Regulators highlighted that minors’ accounts remained too visible to the public, and default settings allowed users aged 13–15 to easily switch their accounts from private to public.

While no fine has been set yet, TikTok could face penalties of up to 6% of its global annual revenue for non-compliance.

TikTok, which has already faced over €875 million in previous regulatory penalties in Europe, stated it will review the Commission's findings and continue to engage with regulators.
