Aston Villa’s new midfield star, Johan Manzambi, is officially on the rise.
At just 20 years old, the Swiss international has been nominated for the prestigious 2026 Men's Young Talent of the Year award at the upcoming Ballon d'Or ceremony in London.
His nomination follows a spectacular 2025/26 season where he shined for SC Freiburg, helping them reach the UEFA Europa League final and earning the title of Young Player of the Season.
Manzambi’s international profile soared during the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where he became the youngest player in six decades to record five goal contributions in a single tournament.
This breakout form led to a record-breaking £60 million transfer to Aston Villa this past July, making him the most expensive Swiss player ever.
Beyond his impressive stats—including a goal on his Premier League debut against Tottenham—coaches praise his humble character and grounded work ethic.
As he competes against stars like Lamine Yamal for the trophy on October 26, the football world is eager to see if this dynamic midfielder will cap off his incredible year with yet another major individual honor.
