As of late August 2026, NASA is achieving major milestones in both space observation and orbital technology.
The agency is in the final stages of preparing the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope for its upcoming launch on August 30.
Designed to study dark energy, dark matter, and exoplanets, this telescope features a wide-field instrument with a view 100 times larger than Hubble’s.
It will travel to the Sun-Earth Lagrange Point 2, located 1.5 million kilometers from Earth, aboard a SpaceX Falcon Heavy rocket.
Simultaneously, NASA has successfully tested a groundbreaking navigation system called FALCON.
Tested on the Starling mission, this system autonomously updated orbits for over 200 space objects in just three days.
Together, these developments represent a dual focus: the Roman Telescope expands our knowledge of the deep universe, while FALCON provides the autonomous infrastructure necessary for future deep-space exploration.
