Canadian Leaders Meet to Announce New Housing Construction Plans

In a major effort to combat the national housing crisis, the Canadian government has shifted from a funding-only model to an active construction strategy.

Led by Prime Minister Mark Carney, the government launched the Build Canada Homes agency in late 2025.

Projects are currently underway in six major cities, including Ottawa and Toronto, with plans to potentially scale up to 45,000 units.
