Big news for fans of the God of War franchise!
As of August 20, 2026, it has been officially confirmed that Dave Bautista will step into the iconic role of Kratos for the upcoming live-action Amazon Prime Video series.
This casting decision follows an unfortunate incident in June 2026, where the original actor, Ryan Hurst, suffered a serious bicep injury while filming a stunt.
To avoid significant production delays, the team decided to recast the lead.
With the series filming two seasons back-to-back, production is now resetting to reshoot previous scenes with Bautista.
Under the guidance of showrunner Ronald D.
The show features a stellar ensemble cast, including Mandy Patinkin and Ed Skrein.
While fans were sad to see Hurst depart, there is immense excitement surrounding Bautista, who was long considered a perfect fan-cast choice for the god-slaying warrior.
