A tragic drowning incident during a team-building trip has led to serious legal consequences for the Ateneo de Manila University men’s basketball coaching staff.
2026年6月8日，學生運動員Rene Baterbonia和Divine Adili在奧羅拉省迪帕庫勞(Dipaculao)參與高強度的海上活動時不幸喪生。
On June 8, 2026, student-athletes Rene Baterbonia and Divine Adili lost their lives while participating in strenuous sea-based activities in Dipaculao, Aurora.
在菲律賓國家警察刑事調查偵緝組(PNP-CIDG)進行徹底調查後，官員已建議對包括前總教練Tab Baldwin在內的11名工作人員提出霸凌(hazing)指控。
Following a thorough investigation by the Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG), officials have recommended filing hazing charges against 11 staff members, including former head coach Tab Baldwin.
為了回應這場悲劇，Tab Baldwin已經辭職，而大學運動協會(UAAP)也對相關工作人員實施了全面禁令。
In response to the tragedy, Tab Baldwin has resigned, and the UAAP has imposed a total ban on the involved staff.
馬尼拉雅典耀大學正全力配合調查，並進行了為期40天的哀悼期。
Ateneo de Manila University is cooperating fully with the investigation and has observed a 40-day mourning period.
