A groundbreaking discovery has emerged from Brazil, where researchers have identified a vast strewn field of rare impact glass known as Geraisites.

Named after the state of Minas Gerais, these specimens are classified as tektites—natural glass formed during high-energy meteorite impacts.

Over 600 pieces have been collected across a 900-kilometer area, including parts of Bahia and Piauí.

Scientific analysis, including the presence of lechatelierite and low water content, confirms these objects formed during an impact approximately 6.3 million years ago.
