New healthcare regulations take effect in British Columbia
2026年4月1日、ブリティッシュ・コロンビア州は、医療監督における歴史的な転換となる「医療専門職および職業法（HPOA）」を導入しました。
On April 1, 2026, British Columbia launched a historic shift in its medical oversight with the introduction of the Health Professions and Occupations Act (HPOA).
大きな変更点は、州全域の規制機関を管理する医療専門職および職業規制監督局（HPOROO）の新設です。
A major change is the creation of the Health Professions and Occupations Regulatory Oversight Office (HPOROO), which manages regulatory colleges across the province.
効率化を図るため、BC州は15あった規制機関を6つに統合しました。
To improve efficiency, B.C. has also consolidated 15 regulatory colleges into just six.
ドクターズ・オブ・BC」などの団体は、政府が任命した委員会によって医療監督が政治化し、専門職としての自主性が損なわれることを懸念しています。
Organizations like Doctors of BC worry that government-appointed boards could lead to the politicization of medical oversight and a loss of professional autonomy.
こうした構造的な変化に加え、州は看護師と患者の比率の改善や、複雑な患者のニーズに対応する医師に報酬を支払う「長期的ファミリー・フィジシャン」支払いモデルの導入を進めています。
Beyond these structural changes, the province is also pushing forward with new nurse-to-patient ratios and the Longitudinal Family Physician payment model, which rewards doctors for managing complex patient needs.
