毎年6月12日は、「児童労働反対世界デー」として世界中が協力し合う日です。
Every year on June 12, the world comes together for the World Day Against Child Labour.
2002年に国際労働機関（ILO）によって始められたこの国際的な記念日は、世界規模で問題となっている児童労働に注目し、それを根絶するための取り組みを推進することを目的としています。
Launched by the International Labour Organization (ILO) in 2002, this international observance aims to highlight the global crisis of child labour and mobilize efforts to end it once and for all.
2000年以降、搾取される環境にある子どもたちの数は半数近くまで減少しており、大きな進歩が見られますが、精神的、身体的、あるいは道徳的に有害な労働に苦しむ子どもたちは今もなお数百万人います。
While we have seen significant progress—with the number of children in exploitative conditions dropping by nearly half since 2000—there are still millions of children trapped in work that is mentally, physically, or morally harmful.
児童労働の多くは、貧困と良質な教育の不足が原因となっています。
Child labour is often driven by poverty and a lack of quality education.
この運動は、最低就業年齢を定め、最悪の形態の児童労働を対象とするILO条約138号および182号といった主要な国際協定によって支持されています。
The movement is supported by key international agreements, such as ILO Conventions 138 and 182, which establish minimum working ages and target the worst forms of abuse.
さらに、国連は2025年までに児童労働を全て撤廃するという野心的な目標を掲げています。
Furthermore, the UN has set an ambitious goal to eradicate all forms of child labour by 2025.
親がまともで公正な賃金を得られる仕事に就けるようにすることで、子どもを労働の場ではなく、本来いるべき学校へ通わせる支援が可能となります。
By ensuring that parents have access to decent, fair-paying work, we can empower families to keep their children in school, where they belong, rather than in the workforce.
