The conflict in Sudan, currently in its fourth year, has resulted in a devastating humanitarian crisis.
Since the war between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) began in April 2023, nearly 13 million people have been displaced.
With approximately 19.5 million people facing acute food insecurity, the risk of famine is a growing international concern.
The United States is at the forefront of diplomatic efforts to address this tragedy.
Working alongside partners in the 'Quad' and 'Quint' frameworks, U.S. officials are pushing for an immediate, unconditional ceasefire.
The primary goal is to establish safe havens for civilians and ensure the delivery of life-saving humanitarian aid.
Despite providing billions in funding, Washington faces significant challenges in mediation, as both warring parties have frequently failed to honor commitments.
Nevertheless, the U.S. maintains that there is no military solution to this conflict, firmly advocating for a transition to civilian-led governance to restore stability and peace to the Sudanese people.
