Riftbound Implements Major Balance Changes and Card Bans
On March 31, 2026, the trading card game Riftbound introduced its first-ever official ban list for the Standard Constructed format.
Developers at Riot Games removed four cards and three battlefields to ensure the long-term health of the game.
Cards like Called Shot and Scrapheap were banned to stop "Miracle" deck strategies, which allowed players to cycle through their decks too quickly.
Draven, Vanquisher was also removed due to being a power outlier in midrange archetypes.
Additionally, battlefields such as The Dreaming Tree, Obelisk of Power, and Reaver's Row were banned to address problematic, uninteractive play patterns.
Game Director Dave Guskin and his team emphasized that these bans are not just simple balance tweaks, but necessary steps to maintain the competitive integrity of the game.
This major update marks a significant milestone for Riftbound, showing the developers' commitment to managing the game's competitive environment as it continues to evolve.
