In June 2026, Bollywood superstar Salman Khan took legal steps to halt the release of a film titled 'Kala Hiran: The Battle for Legacy.'
Khan filed a petition in the Delhi High Court, arguing that the movie violates his publicity rights and could harm his reputation.
His legal team highlights that promotional materials, such as posters and videos, feature a character clearly imitating Khan's iconic style, including his famous bracelet.
Furthermore, Khan claims that the film focuses on the 1998 blackbuck poaching case, which is still a sub-judice matter in the Rajasthan High Court.
He fears that a dramatized version of these events could unfairly influence public opinion and jeopardize his right to a fair trial.
The producers, however, deny that the film is a biopic.
They argue that the subject matter exists in the public domain and that they have the creative freedom to explore the impact of these events.
The Delhi High Court has now requested a response from the producers, with further hearings scheduled for late June 2026.
