Historic site in Newcastle, Australia to become new entertainment hub
Newcastle is set to breathe new life into its historic east end as the heritage-listed former railway terminus, known as The Station, prepares for a major transformation.
Built in 1878, The Station served as a bustling rail hub until 2014.
Now, the NSW Government has partnered with Ashbridge Capital to turn this landmark into a premier entertainment and tourism destination.
Through a 99-year lease agreement, the project focuses on adaptive reuse, ensuring the building's historical character is preserved while introducing modern amenities.
This development is a key part of the broader Revitalising Newcastle program, aimed at turning the foreshore into a year-round attraction.
By blending the past with future commercial needs, this project ensures The Station remains a beloved hub for both residents and visitors for generations to come.
