Manchester United Signs Carlos Baleba for £70 Million

On August 25, 2026, Manchester United made a significant move in the transfer market, securing 22-year-old Cameroonian midfielder Carlos Baleba from Brighton & Hove Albion.

Baleba has committed to a five-year contract, keeping him at Old Trafford until at least 2031, and he will wear the number 20 shirt.

This signing represents a major phase of the midfield rebuild under manager Michael Carrick.

Baleba, who was tracked for nearly a year, is highly regarded for his defensive tenacity and his ability to move the ball forward.

Although he joins with a pre-existing ankle injury, United’s Football Director, Jason Wilcox, praised the midfielder’s immense potential.

Baleba himself described the move as a dream come true, expressing his eagerness to work with the team upon his return to fitness, which is expected by mid-September.

Fans hope his arrival will provide the balance needed to strengthen the squad's competitiveness for the upcoming season.
