Aditya Birla Group acquires RCB cricket team for $1.78 billion
In a historic shift for Indian cricket, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) franchise has been acquired by a powerful consortium led by the Aditya Birla Group.
Valued at $1.78 billion, this transaction stands as the most expensive sale in Indian Premier League (IPL) history.
The deal involves purchasing 100% equity from United Spirits Limited, covering both the men's IPL and women's WPL teams.
The new leadership includes Aryaman Vikram Birla as Chairman and Satyan Gajwani as Vice-Chairman, who have confirmed that the team's identity will remain unchanged.
Notably, RCB is currently a dominant force in the league, holding both the 2025 men's IPL title and the 2026 women's WPL title.
As the franchise transitions to this new ownership, the deal awaits final approvals from the Board of Control for Cricket in India.
