Sony and TCL join forces for home entertainment products
On March 31, 2026, tech giants Sony Corporation and TCL Electronics officially announced a new strategic joint venture.
This partnership aims to reshape the home entertainment industry by forming a new entity, BRAVIA Inc.
Under the agreement, TCL will hold a 51% stake, while Sony retains 49%.
BRAVIA Inc. will manage the development, manufacturing, and global sales of Sony’s home audio and visual lineup, including televisions, projectors, and professional displays.
Although ownership is shifting, the company will keep the trusted 'Sony' and 'BRAVIA' brand names.
Industry experts view this as a clever strategy to blend Sony’s high-end image processing technology with TCL’s massive manufacturing efficiency.
Kazuo Kii, a long-time Sony executive, will lead the Tokyo-based headquarters.
This move could potentially influence future display technology priorities, such as the evolution of OLED screens.
