Sony and TCL Launch Joint Venture Called BRAVIA Inc.
In a major shift for the electronics industry, Sony Corporation and TCL Electronics have announced the creation of a new joint venture, BRAVIA, Inc.
Set to begin operations in April 2027, this partnership aims to redefine home entertainment.
TCL will hold a 51% majority stake, while Sony retains 49%.
The venture will be based in Tokyo under the leadership of CEO Kazuo Kii.
BRAVIA, Inc. will manage the complete lifecycle of Sony’s home entertainment products, including TVs, projectors, and audio systems.
By combining Sony’s legendary image processing and brand prestige with TCL’s massive manufacturing scale and supply chain efficiency, the partnership intends to secure the long-term competitiveness of premium products.
Importantly, the Sony and BRAVIA brand names will remain, ensuring continuity for customers.
This move marks a strategic transition toward an asset-light business model for Sony.
While the structure is changing, the core goal remains to deliver the high-quality Sony experience through improved product scalability and faster market response.
Pending regulatory approval, this collaboration represents a significant step forward in modern home entertainment technology.
