The much-anticipated Tamil spy thriller Dhruva Natchathiram, starring Chiyaan Vikram and directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon, has faced an extraordinary journey.
First announced in 2013, the film finally entered production in 2017 but quickly became ensnared in 'production hell' due to financial hurdles and the COVID-19 pandemic.
In April 2026, the Madras High Court stepped in, ordering that the film could be released if all revenue were deposited into a court-monitored escrow account to satisfy creditors.
Despite a court-imposed deadline of June 15, 2026, the release has been further delayed.
Gautham Menon recently informed the High Court that he was unable to meet this timeline and has requested an extension until July 15, 2026, to finalize logistical arrangements.
While the project has cost an estimated ₹80 crore, fans remain hopeful, as the film continues to generate significant buzz despite its rocky path to the big screen.
