On August 12, 2026, the gaming industry saw another update from CD Projekt Red (CDPR) regarding Project Sirius, the multiplayer-focused Witcher spin-off.
The studio confirmed a staff reduction of nine employees—four based in Boston and five in Warsaw.
To mitigate the impact, nine additional staff members were invited to transition into internal roles on other CDPR projects.
While these layoffs might concern fans, they suggest a more disciplined approach to project management at CDPR.
By right-sizing the team, the company appears to be focusing its resources more efficiently as it continues work on major titles like The Witcher 4 and the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel.
This move reflects a broader industry trend where studios are prioritizing project stability and clear, transparent communication during the long development cycles required for high-budget titles.
