Canada's Foreign Minister Prepares for G7 Summit in Paris
In March 2026, Canada’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Anita Anand, traveled to France to strengthen diplomatic ties.
A highlight of her trip was attending the G7 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting at the Abbaye des Vaux-de-Cernay.
As France holds the 2026 G7 Presidency, this gathering was a critical step in preparing for the main Leaders' Summit, which is set to take place in Évian-les-Bains this June.
While international media often use the term "G7 in Paris" to describe these events, the summit itself and ministerial meetings occur across various French locations to showcase the nation.
During the session, Minister Anand collaborated with global counterparts on urgent matters, including the conflict in Ukraine, stability in the Middle East, and regional crises in Sudan and Haiti.
Beyond the G7 agenda, Minister Anand also met with the Secretary General of La Francophonie in Paris.
This meeting underscored Canada’s official bid to host the La Francophonie Summit in 2028, reflecting Canada’s deep commitment to international cooperation.
Through these meetings, Minister Anand demonstrated Canada’s active role in addressing global economic and security challenges, reaffirming its dedication to the G7’s collective goals for a more stable and equitable world.
