Global communities celebrate International Transgender Day of Visibility
Every year on March 31, global communities honor International Transgender Day of Visibility (TDOV).
Established in 2009 by activist Rachel Crandall-Crocker, this important day celebrates the accomplishments, joy, and resilience of transgender and gender-expansive individuals.
Unlike the Transgender Day of Remembrance in November, which honors those lost to violence, TDOV focuses on the beauty and success of the living.
While TDOV is a time for celebration, it also functions as a powerful call to action.
As political hostility towards the LGBTQ+ community rises in many regions, the need for visibility remains urgent.
Through collective efforts, TDOV reminds us that visibility is a fundamental tool for progress, aiming to ensure that all individuals can live their lives with dignity, safety, and pride.
