New York Rangers recall goaltender Dylan Garand due to injuries
On March 20, 2026, the New York Rangers brought their promising 23-year-old goaltender, Dylan Garand, up from their AHL affiliate, the Hartford Wolf Pack.
While the team's primary netminders, Igor Shesterkin and Jonathan Quick, have been dealing with minor physical issues, the recall was largely seen as a precautionary step to secure depth.
It also provides the coaching staff a prime opportunity to evaluate Garand for a potential NHL debut.
Drafted in the fourth round in 2020, the Victoria native has spent four seasons developing in Hartford.
During the 2025-26 campaign, Garand posted a 16-15-2 record, showcasing the skills that earned him an AHL All-Star nod last year and a gold medal with Team Canada at the 2022 World Junior Championship.
Though this is his second time being called up this season, Garand remains eager to step onto the NHL ice.
