Prime Minister Trudeau to Meet with Artemis II Astronauts
On April 25, 2023, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau hosted the Artemis II astronauts at the Canada Aviation and Space Museum in Ottawa.
This historic event celebrated the upcoming NASA-led mission, which marks the first time humans will fly around the Moon in over 50 years.
The spotlight was firmly on Jeremy Hansen, a Canadian Space Agency astronaut who will become the first non-American to leave Earth's orbit.
Canada secured this prestigious seat through long-term investments in the Lunar Gateway project, including the cutting-edge Canadarm3 technology.
During an industry panel, Trudeau, along with NASA and CSA officials, discussed the immense value of international space cooperation.
By championing the 2019 Lunar Gateway commitment, the government successfully paved the way for this national achievement.
