New U.S. advisory council bridges the gap between technology and science
In January 2025, the U.S. administration re-chartered the President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology (PCAST).
This body is tasked with guiding federal policy on innovation.
Unlike past councils that leaned on academic experts, the current group is dominated by industry giants like Meta, NVIDIA, and Google.
The administration believes this alignment will accelerate the deployment of frontier technologies like Artificial Intelligence, semiconductors, and nuclear fusion.
Ultimately, the council represents a deliberate push toward rapid, market-ready innovation, redefining the traditional relationship between the federal government and the fast-paced world of private-sector technology.
