PM Modi inaugurates new Noida International Airport
On March 28, 2026, Prime Minister Narendra Modi officially opened the Noida International Airport (NIA) in Jewar, Uttar Pradesh.
This major project provides a much-needed second gateway for the National Capital Region (NCR), designed to relieve the heavy traffic at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport.
Built by Yamuna International Airport Private Limited, the facility represents a key advancement in regional infrastructure.
Major airlines like IndiGo, Air India Express, and Akasa Air have already committed to launching routes connecting to cities such as Mumbai and Bengaluru.
Beyond passenger travel, the airport features a dedicated cargo hub and India's first in-house Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) unit.
This project is a central part of the government’s vision to boost economic growth and establish Uttar Pradesh as a leading hub for aviation in India, supporting long-term goals for a more developed nation.
