The World Celebrates Global Recycling Day
On March 18th, the world unites for Global Recycling Day, an initiative launched in 2018 by the Global Recycling Foundation.
By moving away from a "garbage" mindset, we can embrace a circular economy where materials are reused rather than discarded.
The urgency of this mission is clear: recycling significantly combats climate change by reducing the need for raw material extraction.
Currently, the recycling industry saves over 700 million tonnes of CO2 emissions annually, a number expected to hit 1 billion by 2030.
Founded by Ranjit Baxi, the movement encourages governments, businesses, and individuals to stop thinking of items as waste and start seeing them as valuable opportunities.
While Global Recycling Day brings international attention to these issues through events and workshops, the ultimate goal is a year-round commitment to sustainable habits.
By rethinking product lifecycles and supporting innovative recycling technologies, we protect our ecosystems and ensure a healthier planet for future generations.
