Habitual Verb Questions

Learn how to ask about daily routines and hobbies using active verbs with the question particle 嗎 (ma), and practice negative and positive answers.

To ask a yes/no question about routines or hobbies in Chinese, add the question particle (ma) directly at the end of a Subject-Verb-Object (SVO) sentence:

咖啡

Do you drink coffee?

To form a negative reply, use the negative adverb (bù) directly before the action verb (e.g., 不喝 for 'do not drink', 不打 for 'do not play'):

不,不喝

No, she does not drink tea.
