To state that you can do something in Japanese, use the dictionary (plain present) form of the verb, followed by ことができます (koto ga dekimasu):

  • 読む (to read) $ ightarrow$ 読むことができます (can read)
  • する (to do) $ ightarrow$ することができます (can do)
