〜たいです・欲しいです

Learn how to express what you want to do or what you want to have using 〜たいです and が欲しいです.

In Japanese, expressing desires is split into actions and objects:

  • Wanting to do an action: Replace the 〜ます verb ending with 〜たいです (tai desu).
  • Wanting a physical object: Use the noun followed by the particle and the adjective 欲しいです (hōshī desu).
お茶飲みたいです

I want to drink tea.

For objects:

欲しいです

I want a book.
