で・に

Learn how to describe where actions take place or where you are going using particles で and に.

In Japanese, particles are attached to the end of nouns to clarify their role:

  • (de) indicates the location where an active event or action takes place.
  • (ni) indicates the destination of motion verbs like 行きます (go).
部屋読みます

I read a book in the room.

For directional motion:

学校行きます

I go to school.
