〜ますか

Learn how to ask questions about daily habits and routines using ますか, and practice answering them.

In Japanese, present action questions end with 〜ますか in their polite form. Direct objects are marked with the particle :

コーヒー飲みます

Do you drink coffee?

To answer affirmatively, repeat the polite verb 〜ます. To answer negatively, use the negative form 〜ません:

いいえ、飲みません

No, I do not.
