Abby Royer makes history as first SCSU gymnast to reach NCAA regionals since 1997
In March 2026, Southern Connecticut State University (SCSU) gymnast Abby Royer made program history.
She became the first SCSU athlete to qualify for an NCAA Regional since 1997.
As a senior, Royer capped off her impressive career by qualifying as a floor exercise specialist for the 2026 NCAA National Championship Regional in Lexington, Kentucky.
Beyond her record scores, Royer captured the Gymnastics East Conference (GEC) title and earned First Team All-American honors from the WCGA.
She also balanced her rigorous training with academic success, being named a GEC Scholar-Athlete.
Her path to the regional stage highlights her consistency and dominance in the floor exercise and balance beam throughout her four years at SCSU, marking a historic achievement for her university.
