Demon Slayer Infinity Castle movie earns over 40 billion yen at the Japanese box office
The anime blockbuster Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Infinity Castle – Part 1 has officially concluded its historic 266-day theatrical run in Japan.
According to industry reports, the film reached a staggering 40.2 billion yen domestically, making it only the second movie in Japanese history to cross the 40-billion-yen mark.
While it narrowly trailed the franchise’s earlier hit, Mugen Train, its international performance was groundbreaking.
Globally, the film grossed approximately 117.9 billion yen, becoming the first Japanese production to ever exceed the 100-billion-yen threshold.
Directed by Haruo Sotozaki and produced by Ufotable, this film is the first of a planned trilogy adapting the manga's final saga.
Its success was sustained by high-quality animation, dense combat sequences, and strategic premium format releases.
Despite the end of its theatrical run, the film’s legacy is already cemented as one of the highest-grossing animated projects of all time.
As fans look toward the remaining two films in the series, Infinity Castle – Part 1 stands as a monumental milestone for global cinema and the anime industry.
