In a heartening display of community spirit, Victoria’s beloved FernFest made a triumphant comeback on June 13, 2026.
After the Fernwood Neighbourhood House (FNH) announced the cancellation of the long-standing tradition earlier this year due to capacity constraints, local residents and business owners refused to let the event disappear.
What followed was a massive grassroots campaign to save the festival.
A new coalition, including local makers and designers, stepped up to partner with FNH.
The festival featured over 140 artisans, delicious food vendors, and live music, including a performance by the lək̓ʷəŋən Traditional Dancers.
Officials see this successful revival as a vital 'transition story,' proving that when a community unites, they can protect the cultural events that define their neighborhood.
It was a day of celebration, connection, and proof that FernFest is here to stay.
