On June 17, 2026, the U.S.
Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) met at the Dirksen Senate Office Building to discuss a significant package of healthcare legislation.
Chaired by Senator Bill Cassidy with Ranking Member Bernie Sanders, the session aimed to pass bipartisan bills focusing on healthcare affordability, patient access, and the reauthorization of vital health programs.
Many critical programs, including those dedicated to stem cell research and breast health education, are set to expire in 2026.
If the Senate does not act, these programs risk losing essential funding and operational status.
They also reviewed legislation to prevent discrimination against patients with disabilities in organ transplant processes.
