The University of Melbourne’s Science Gallery Melbourne has launched a thought-provoking new exhibition titled 'EMERGENCE'.
Running from June 6 to December 5, 2026, this free exhibition at the Melbourne Connect precinct explores the complex intersection of biotechnology, ecology, and human resilience.
Curated by Tilly Boleyn, the showcase invites visitors to consider how we can adapt to rapid technological change and environmental shifts.
A standout highlight is a new commission by acclaimed artist Patricia Piccinini, developed during a residency at the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute.
Other installations include a functional vertical farm developed with the Faculty of Engineering and interactive displays featuring fire-resistant clothing made from mushroom mycelium.
This exhibition underscores the university's commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration, proving that creative expression is a powerful tool for building a sustainable, hopeful future.
Whether you are interested in urban food systems or speculative design, 'EMERGENCE' offers a unique glimpse into the innovations shaping our world.
