At the Unite Seoul conference on July 21, 2026, Unity Technologies officially unveiled its next-generation game engine, Unity 7.
Set for a full release in the first quarter of 2027, the engine focuses on modernizing development through human and AI collaboration.
A key highlight is the seamless transition for developers; Unity 7 serves as a direct continuation of Unity 6, ensuring that projects can migrate without the need for time-consuming rebuilding.
Performance is also a major focus, as the engine shifts to a CoreCLR scripting backend, resulting in nearly instant Play Mode and significantly faster shader builds.
For professional teams, the new Command-Line Interface and public API allow artists and producers to validate assets and manage builds from external tools, increasing workflow efficiency.
With early beta testing starting in December 2026, Unity 7 is poised to redefine how developers build and monetize their games in a modern, AI-augmented landscape.
