On September 1, 2026, Savvy Games Group officially announced a significant leadership transition.
Founding CEO Brian Ward, who has steered the company since its launch in 2021, is stepping down.
During his tenure, Ward was instrumental in positioning Saudi Arabia as a global powerhouse in the gaming and esports industries.
He oversaw roughly $38 billion in strategic investments, including the high-profile acquisitions of mobile gaming giant Scopely and Pokémon GO developer Niantic.
Under his guidance, the firm grew to nearly 4,000 employees globally.
Taking his place as interim acting CEO is Turqi Alnowaiser, the deputy governor of Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF).
As Savvy Games Group moves away from its initial acquisition-heavy strategy, the industry is watching closely to see how this transition shapes the company’s path toward its next chapter of transformational growth.
