In late May 2026, the British gaming landscape saw a major shift as indie publisher Playstack announced it is being acquired by Integrated Media Company (IMC), a division of TPG Inc.
Since its founding in 2016 by Harvey Elliott and Jasper Smith, Playstack has gained fame for hits like Balatro, The Case of the Golden Idol, and Abiotic Factor.
The publisher boasts an impressive 85% hit ratio and was responsible for nearly 84% of TruFin's total revenue in 2025.
By joining IMC, Playstack will align with media brands such as Fandom and GameSpot.
Despite the change in ownership, CEO Harvey Elliott has assured fans and staff that it is "business as usual," with the team maintaining their focus on high-quality indie titles.
While management emphasizes stability, industry analysts are watching closely to see if this private equity backing will influence Playstack's future strategy or operational independence.
